About the Journal

Faravid is a peer-reviewed journal of History and Archaeology published by The Historical Association of Northern Finland (HANF). Faravid has been published continuously since 1977. Nowadays Faravid is published twice a year both as a printed version for subscribers as well as by Open Access in Journal.fi. All journals published before autumn 2019 are available to read on the home page of HANF.

Publishing languages are Finnish, English, German and Swedish. English summaries are provided.

The contents of Faravid are published using Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) copyright license.

Faravid has received a subsidy for scientific publishing granted by the Ministry of Education and Culture from the proceeds of Veikkaus and distributed by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.

Peer-review

We use the label for peer-reviewed scholarly publications granted by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. We have commited to following the requirements for its use and to advancing the principles of responsible conduct of research, as formulated in the guidelines for peer-reviewers set by Finnish Association for Scholarly Publishing and Finnish National Board on Research Integrity.
